14-18 Gallery launch

14-18 Gallery Launch

Twisted Pages have collaborated with the other eight artists and musicians in the Castlefield new art spaces and opened a gallery in the heart of our home town.

September 21st was the launch party of 14-18 gallery and proved a great success with over two hundred visitors. Inspiring us to already start planning the next one! The day was more than we could of ever imagined with great support from Nicholas and Kwong of Castlefield gallery who also are responsible for the ten of us meeting. We had A-N journalist interviewing us and local business sweet little things providing us with a very generous selection of hand made cup cakes!

14-18 Gallery will be open to the public very soon,
Hope to see you there!

New Brief, New Work

We, Twisted Pages decided that we wanted to enter Liverpool Art Fair's Print Edition Exhibition this December. After exhibiting at Liverpool Art Fair at Camp and Furnace this Summer we were excited to apply again this time around. As our usual twisted style incorporates paper manipulation and three dimensional work we had to take a slightly different creative path in order to meet the submission criteria.

This is something that if we admit, we were a little apprehensive about! We started to experiment with different media and techniques and actually began to enjoy ourselves!
The work that we created is different to what we normally do, but we are so pleased with it.

I guess that's what happens when you force yourself to try something new!

Turnpike open exhibition 2012 Twisted Pages

Twisted Pages have had yet another busy month......Already!!

The turnpike gallery is our local inspiration centre, based in Leigh town center above the library, it's an amazing establishment for artists, education, community events and everything in-between. This year twisted Pages will be entering a brand new handmade paper creation especially designed for the annual open exhibition.

'Unfolding Growth' is a dramatic scene of hundreds of handmade paper flowers encasing a distressed abandoned table, depicting how in nature something so delicate can also be so powerful. An unstoppable growth unfolding before our eyes.

Turnpike Open Exhibition runs from 22nd September untill 27th October, free entry.

Southport Flowers Show Success

As you will know from our previous posts Twisted Pages and the Artists from the Waterfront Arts Project have taken part in a large scale installation exhibited at Southport Flower Show last week. The show ran from Thursday 16th of August to Sunday 19th of August and was once again overflowing with thousands of curious visitors!

The Waterfront's installation that was made up of over forty mini bar fridges was spread across three sites dotted around the huge grounds where the show took place. The beauty of this exhibition titled 'COOL!' was that it allowed members of the public visiting the show to engage with the art by actually touching it! Each fridge when opened displayed an individual piece of art work, created by the Waterfront Artists especially for the show.

It was great to see crowds gathering around the fridges and tentatively opening each door, people of all ages could enjoy this interactive piece of art as there was definitely something for everyone.

The response that we got was amazing! With many people paying the Waterfront Arts Project tent a visit to tell the artists just how much they loved the work. With many enquiring about visiting the gallery itself and also informing us that they had already seen some of the fridges on display in the Wayfarers Arcade on Lord Street.

The piece was definitely a success and we can't wait for next year!

The Waterfront Arts Project at Southport Flower Show

SOUTHPORT
FLOWER SHOW
 2012

The newest exhibition piece that Twisted Pages have created will go on show next week among many other brilliant artists from Southport's Waterfront Arts Project. All the artists have been working on a variety of mini bar fridges to create a large number of cool 'fridge installations'.

These seemingly simple fridges entice the public passing by, to take a peek inside and be surprised by unique art installations created for this event! A selection of the fridges to go on display at the Flower Show are currently being displayed in Southport's Wayfarers Arcade on Lord Street.

Don't worry if you haven't had the chance to see them, they will be exhibited with many more from Thursday the 16th to Sunday the 19th of August at Southport Flower Show. ( 10am - 6pm Thurs to Sat and 10am - 5pm on Sun)

So why not come along and see some unique, contemporary art displayed among thousands of beautiful flowers, we couldn't imagine anything better to look at!

Twisted Pages New Work

After recently completing and displaying our Journey Through Depression' Installation at the Waterfront Art Gallery in Southport twisted pages has begun work on our next chapter. With the theme of the next exhibition at the Waterfront being 'open' we have taken the opportunity to experiment a little with our work and take a different approach to our usual style. This theme has also given us the chance to work on some other projects.

Here are some sample of the experimental stages that we are working on at the present.
