Turning Point
The latest Waterfront exhibition we thought to be aptly named ‘Turning Point’ as the Waterfront Gallery has been a turning point for us, especially in the sense of significant change. We took this opportunity to create an autobiographical map of our journey together as artists and friends, starting from our own ‘Turning Point’ when we rekindled our friendship and creativity and collaborated for our first exhibition at the Waterfront in January 2012.
This piece portrays our story. With decision and direction at the foundation of our theme, we explore how our paths are forged through the choices we make, no matter how big or small and how every decision affects our future. Not forgetting of course that all of our choices are also greatly influenced by chance. The colours represent a particular feeling or state of mind, while the stops are the places we have visited or been influence by along the way. The fan is a constant reminder that no matter what we do chance can always transform our plan.
We have created in a sense a map but not in the conventional way, as there can never really be a map for life. This is more like a trail, our journey so far and the twisting, turning, almost random route that we have taken. It is complicated and full of colour and most importantly it is yet to be finished.
Open until December

14-18 Gallery launch
14-18 Gallery Launch
Twisted Pages have collaborated with the other eight artists and musicians in the Castlefield new art spaces and opened a gallery in the heart of our home town.
September 21st was the launch party of 14-18 gallery and proved a great success with over two hundred visitors. Inspiring us to already start planning the next one! The day was more than we could of ever imagined with great support from Nicholas and Kwong of Castlefield gallery who also are responsible for the ten of us meeting. We had A-N journalist interviewing us and local business sweet little things providing us with a very generous selection of hand made cup cakes!
14-18 Gallery will be open to the public very soon,
Hope to see you there!

If music be the food of love, play on
Twisted Pages at the Waterfront Winter 2012
'Harmonography'
Twisted Pages finished piece of work 'if music be the food of love, play on' for the Waterfront Arts Project in Southport. The current exhibition that opens Sunday 2nd December 2012 is titled 'Harmonography' and showcases works by many artists around the theme of sound. The exhibition includes paintings, sculpture, photography and installations, the gallery is open Tuesday through Sunday 12-4 and is situated by the Marina lake next to the Remada hotel, the promenade. Southport, Merseyside.
Twisted Pages piece is a combination between handmade paper, figurative sculptures and functional objects with a 'twist'. With a simple yet elegant feel and a sharp red, White and black colour scheme. Based around the line from Shakespeare's Twelfth Night 'If music be the food of love, play on' we have crested a tea party themed scene focusing on music, food and love. Our intentions to include everyday objects within our work has seemed to work well. As always with our work we aimed for this piece simply to be enjoyed by the viewer.
If Music be the food of love play on

Turnpike open exhibition 2012 Twisted Pages
Twisted Pages have had yet another busy month......Already!!
The turnpike gallery is our local inspiration centre, based in Leigh town center above the library, it's an amazing establishment for artists, education, community events and everything in-between. This year twisted Pages will be entering a brand new handmade paper creation especially designed for the annual open exhibition.
'Unfolding Growth' is a dramatic scene of hundreds of handmade paper flowers encasing a distressed abandoned table, depicting how in nature something so delicate can also be so powerful. An unstoppable growth unfolding before our eyes.
Turnpike Open Exhibition runs from 22nd September untill 27th October, free entry.

The Eyes Are The Window To The Soul
Our next piece for the Waterfront Arts Project is nearly ready. The next exhibition is titled 'Windows' and we have taken our inspiration from the quote
' the eyes are the window to the soul'.
We compiled a questionnaire that we sent to various friends, family members and followers on the subject of the soul. This included what colour they would use to describe their soul, what we would see if we could look inside their soul and what they would wish for from life.
We got some brilliant answers and would like to thank everyone that took part. We used these answers as our inspiration, here are some samples of what we have done so far.
We have used lots of colour, that was picked out from the answers that we got. As you can see we have used the quilling technique quite a bit in these pieces, that will be put together to create a large hanging installation. The delicate and intricate detail of the quilled paper perfectly represents some of the honest and open answers that we were given.
There is still a little more to do but Twisted Pages next piece of paper art work is well on the way. The piece will go to the Waterfront Gallery on the Promenade, Southport , Merseyside some time in mid September (date to be confirmed) This contemporary fine art exhibition that will include local, national and international artists is once again shaping up to be a must see!
